The theory of global warming is by no means certain. There's no way of knowing whether the earth's slight warming trend is part of a longer trend or a normal fluctuation, or even a) a problem; b) something caused by man, or; c) something correctible, without causing more harm than good (i.e., the destruction of world economies).
But thanks to a constant drumbeat from various media sources, global warming is no longer a theory but a "fact." Scientists who promote this idea get grants; those who criticize it are ignored. So now everyone who is anyone says it's true. That means that Americans will face never-ending calls for restrictions on carbon dioxide and on all manner of human activity – not to mention higher taxes – to combat this Earth-threatening evil. In other words, the battle is lost, and we're stuck with the War on Global Warming no matter how loudly we complain. This is a definite loss for freedom, given the inevitable policies that global-warming Chicken Littles promote.
