$12 Billion Missing in Iraq!

Friday, February 09, 2007 - FreeMarketNews.com
A lot of what U.S. tellers call "large" has gone missing. The United States sent $12 billion in shrink-wrapped $100 bills from New York to Baghdad in 2004 and distributed the cash with no control over who received the money or how it was distributed, according to The Guardian. The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is examining the handouts. The money came from Iraqi oil sales, seized Iraqi assets and surplus funds from the UN oil-for-food program. The U.S.-led Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) distributed the funds. CPA head Paul Bremer seemed unconcerned about the money because he said the money is not “appropriated American funds.” Bremer’s financial adviser, retired Admiral David Oliver, said he did not think it is important if the funds went to the right things.Bremer also acknowledged that there were ghost employees on the U.S. payroll in 2003 and 2004, according to The Hufffington Post. Bremer said he did not know if that money ended up in the hands of insurgents and that it was less of a risk to pay everyone while trying to determine who was coming to work. –

Seems to me it would be kind of important to know: Who, What, When, Where, Why and How 12 Billion Dollars is "missing?" These guys are unconcerned- maybe that's cause part of it went into their pockets?
