KABUL -- Afghanistan's Taliban will start killing 23 Korean Christian hostages if the group's demands are not met by Sunday 14:30 GMT, a spokesman for the Taliban said on Saturday.
Qari Mohammad Yousuf, who insisted the group had killed two German hostages on Saturday, said the Taliban would start to kill the Koreans if the Afghan government did not free Taliban prisoners and if South Korea did not pull its forces out of the country.
More to come
The report came just minutes after the deadline set by the militants expired. The Taliban warned earlier that they would start to kill the hostages by 1430 GMT Monday unless 23 Taliban prisoners are released and South Korea withdraws its 210 troops from Afghanistan.
According to Yonhap, the new deadline will be extended until 1430 GMT Tuesday.
