Soldier Found Guilty of Rape and Murder

This is indeed a horrible act and they should be sentenced to the max....but, please let's not forget that our soldiers are being subjected to deployment tours of unheard lengths of time....they are becoming demented in thought and deed due to our blasted government's refusal to realize just how serious PTSD is and how the very act of being under such pressure can truly affect people. I would be willing to bet had these young men not been placed where they were....they would have never even thought of such a horrible thing. The solution is simple....bring our guys home!! They need help mentally also....not just prison time. I spoke with someone very dear today---he has first hand knowledge about some of the stuff concerning Iraq---he said many of the soldiers are starting to be treated and made to feel just like the Viet Nam Vets. Please don't mis-understand me...this was an attrocitie.....but, our troops need help and support...and this stupid A** governmanet of ours is ignoring it. Sorry for the outburst...but, I am just soooo frustrated with this war!!~jackie

shinade...I don't mean too sound cold, but they planned this. Also the Military has now lowered its standards to meet recruitment goals.Der Fuhrer has destroyed our Military and I believe that was also part of his plan to destroy the National Guard. They are after all our first line of defense in disaster or National Emergency. When he calls for Martial Law and the people protest they will not be able to put down the uprising or want to shoot American Citizens. That's when he brings in his mercenary's to do the dirty work and put the uprising down. And as long as were in Iraq it's not going to get any better. Remember Abu Ghraib happened because he authorized the use of Torture and it became public knowledge only those at the lowest levels got punished. He is truly an evil insane madman and I doubt that we will never know many other atrocities have been committed through his orders.Just like we'll never know if the order to kill Pat Tillman came from him or not.Our country is in serious danger and only the World stepping up now may save us.God Bless.

I believe any soldier that does anything like this should be punished to the max--but from what I have read I wonder if this particular guy was actually guilty.

Hi Becky:
Here is what the military said he did: Military prosecutors did not say Spielman took part in the rape or murders, but alleged he went to the house knowing what the others intended to do and served as a lookout.
Thanks for stopping by.

I'm not sure that the sentence shouldn't have been harsher. The leader got 100 years I believe and will be eligible for parole in ten years.

First of all what they did was disgusting. Murdering a whole family and raping a fourteen year old girl. Then to burn her body to hide the evidence of rape is beyond the pale.

They committed War Crimes, plain and simple. They should all have been given the Death Penalty. That's what we gave Hitlers Nazi soldiers who committed these type of crimes.

Now were no better than the Nazi's when we don't hold our troops to the higher standards we once held over Hitlers Military.

God bless.

Hi Anon,
I would have to agree that people found guilty of comitting war crimes and crimes against humanity need to be dealt with harshly, Bush being the top offender.

This just leaves me totally sickened. I don't understand how a pack of murderers are formed or the mentality behind it.
I agree with anon-paranoid...
"Now were no better than the Nazi's".

To Shinade, Dawn and Anon,
This is indeed an atrocity and although our men and women in Iraq are under enormous pressure and stress, I don't believe it gives them carte blanche to committ war crimes and/or crimes against humanity, on the other hand, I don't believe that they are getting the help that they need or the support from our Government that they deserve and need.
This whole war is bullshit and you are so right, we need to get them home before these kinds of crimes become commonplace.
Thanks for the comments and the insight you all have shown in your comments.
Peace.
Carol
