Lifting the Veil of Polygamy

While I do not oppose anyone's right to freedom of Religion, I found this interesting:

John Taylor, one of the Mormon Church's earliest leaders said:

We believe in honesty, morality, and purity; but when they enact tyrannical laws, forbidding us the free exercise of our religion, we cannot submit. God is greater than the United States, and when the Government conflicts with heaven, we will be ranged under banner of heaven and against the Government...

Polygamy is a divine institution. It has been handed down direct from God. The United States cannot abolish it. No nation on earth can prevent it, nor all the nations of the earth combined,...

I defy the United States; I will obey God.

This is an 82 minute video for those of you seeking to understand.

The sect in the news is not the Mormon Church. The polygamists of the FLDS group are not Mormons. Mormons did once practice polygamy, but it has long since been abolished, and anyone practicing polygamy cannot be a member of the modern Mormon church.

Hi Heather,
You are quite correct in your point that modern Mormons don't practice Polygamy - there are extremists in every Religion don't you think?
The point of the Post was to shed some light on the beginnings of the practice.
Thanks for yoiur visit and clearing that up. See you again I hope :)
