I have just been sitting here and thinking about this whole SCHIP thing and Bush's Veto.
He's talking about families that make $83,000 per year putting their kids on Federal Insurance Programs.
Does he think we are all stupid morons?
Tell me what family who earns in that bracket doesn't have private Insurance and in all likelihood either pays nothing or not much, and even if it costs alot, they could probably afford it.
Picture these people sitting in the lobby of a State Clinic - just the thought of that makes me laugh.
I have been on State Insurance (Medicaid) and let me tell you, it is no fun having to go to a Clinic for Medical Care and Treatment. The lines are long, the Doctors are too busy and the scenery is generally not pretty(!)
Come on Mr. Bush, tell me what you know about living at or below the poverty level. What do you know about being poor and unable to provide medical care for your sick child? What about being poor and having a child die because you couldn't afford the Insurance to cover the Medical Procedure that could have saved your child's life.
Bush quit your double talking bullshit and help us to care for our children.

I think I "get it". Our world has turned topsy turvey,has been heading that way for decades. President Bush is not the problem.
The problem is the dumb as rocks citizens who have never read the US Constitution (this includes all liberal politicians and many conservative ones).
No where in the annals of time has our country's government had any business whatsoever meddling in health care.
This is an issue that should be handled by private enterprise.
I read a comment somewhere on this site where "maybe the next President will help us take care of our children".
Let me share my thoughts with you.
That is not the President's job.
That is your job. If you cannot afford to have kids and fulfill their needs, what in God's name are you doing producing them?
That is irresponsibility of the highest order, bordering on child abuse as far as I am concerned. You should be ashamed to want the government make me use my hard-earned money to care for your kids! I chose to not have kids - and now you want me to pay for your roll in the hay!

The House on Wednesday won a procedural vote that allowed them to postpone until Oct. 18 a vote to override a veto of legislation that would reauthorize and expand SCHIP, CQ Today reports. President Bush vetoed the bill on Wednesday.

Tell them:
Today, SCHIP provides high quality, comprehensive, affordable health coverage to more than 4 million children who would otherwise be uninsured. These children get access to vital health care services they would not otherwise be able to afford.
Congress must ensure that there is enough money to at least get the children who are already eligible for Medicaid or SCHIP enrolled. To do this, states will need approximately $50-$60 billion in new federal funds over the next five years.
No child should lose health coverage because of a shortage of federal funds. The $50-60 billion includes funding to ensure that no child who is enrolled in SCHIP today--and who continues to be eligible--will lose coverage because of a shortfall in federal funds.
