For the last seven years we have bitched and moaned about Bush's aggressive foreign policy, his secrecy, his partisanship, and his expansive claims on executive power.
Wouldn't things remain pretty much the same with Clinton in Office?
The problems with Clinton is that she's likely to be as bad or worse than Bush on all of those issues.
Obama on the other hand is appealing. I think that Obama’s talk creates a very idealistic picture, but that there is more going on with him that he isn't telling us.
Remember when Bush talked about being a “uniter, not a divider?” He presented himself as someone who could reach across the isle to work with Democrats. He said he was “a different kind of Republican.”
Well, we know how that all turned out.
It might piss you off to hear me say that Obama at times reminds me a lot of Bush. I wonder if despite his rhetoric about change and hope if he is able to bring the healing he is talking about.
Both Candidates are well qualified that's a given. We need to start thinking like Republicans.
Who is electable. Who can win?
We need to think in terms of who can beat McCain.
That sums it up nicely don't you think?

Apparently Chris Mathews called it racist and John McCain is demanding the NCRNC stop airing it.
“We asked them not to run it,” McCain told reporters traveling with him in Kentucky. “I’m sending them an e-mail as we speak asking them to take it down.
“I don’t know why they do it. Obviously, I don’t control them, but I’m making it very clear, as I have a couple of times in the past, that there’s no place for that kind of campaigning, and the American people don’t want it,” McCain said.
McCain said the ad was described to him: “I didn’t see it, and I hope that I don’t see it.”
Slick way to get some free campaign advertising eh?

McCain's Positions on Specific Issues
McCain has many traditionally Republican views. He has a strong conservative voting record on pro-life and free trade issues, favors private social security accounts, and opposes an expanded government role in health care.
McCain also supports school vouchers, capital punishment, mandatory sentencing, and welfare reform.
He is generally regarded as a hawk in foreign policy.
When a questioner said, "President Bush has talked about our staying in Iraq for 50 years." McCain responded, "Make it a hundred. We've been in Japan for 60 years, we've been in South Korea for 50 years or so.
That'd be fine with me as long as Americans are not being injured or harmed or wounded or killed.
That's fine with me. I hope it will be fine with you if we maintain a presence in a very volatile part of the world where Al Qaeda is training, recruiting, equipping, and motivating people every single day."
Nevertheless, McCain has supported liberal legislation opposed by his own party and has been called a "maverick" by certain members of the American media.
Arizona Republic columnist and RealClearPolitics contributor Robert Robb, using a formulation devised by William F. Buckley, describes McCain as "conservative" but not "a conservative", meaning that while McCain usually tends towards conservative positions, he is not "anchored by the philosophical tenets of modern American conservatism." McCain declined to sign the pledge put forth by Americans for Tax Freedom not to impose any new taxes or increase existing taxes.

New Hampshire Comebacks: Clinton, McCain Victorious
MANCHESTER, N.H. -- The New Hampshire primary generated two comeback stories Tuesday night, with Sen. Hillary Clinton eking out a narrow victory among the Democrats and Sen. John McCain completing the resurrection of his floundering campaign to win among the Republicans.
Clinton had plummeted in polls in New Hampshire following her third-place finish in Iowa. Sen. Barack Obama had soared to a double-digit lead in many polls and was expected to take the critical independent vote in New Hampshire.
With 74 percent of precincts reporting, Clinton led Obama, 39 to 36 percent, a margin that she held for most of the night.

McCain Defends Bomb Song
Republican presidential contender John McCain has defended his decision to sing a song with the lyrics of "bomb Iran".

The senator caused controversy while campaigning in South Carolina when he was asked how the US should deal with the Iranian regime.
Singing to the melody of the Beach Boys song "Barbara Ann", he joked: "That old, eh, that old Beach Boys song, Bomb Iran."
He then added: "Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb ... anyway, ah ..."
The audience responded with laughter.
When, asked about the response of critics, he suggested they should "get a life"
"Please, I was talking to some of my old veterans friends," he said.
"My response is, Lighten up and get a life."
The US, the West and Iran are engaged in a nuclear stand-off.
The West is insisting Iran stop enriching uranium - Tehran says it wants nuclear power for domestic energy purposes.
