'Vagina' School Girls Suspended

At the invitation of my friend Rose at http://rosedesrochers.todays-woman.net I went to read and comment on a Post. I couldn't believe what I read and knew immediately that I should have saved this one for my Daily WTF! Post:
Cross River students suspended for saying 'vagina' at open mic session
By DIANA COSTELLO AND
SUSAN ELAN
THE JOURNAL NEWS
CROSS RIVER - Saying the word "vagina" during a reading at a John Jay High School open mic session has resulted in suspension for three female students and has sparked a debate about censorship throughout the community.
School administrators had warned the girls it would be inappropriate to say the word while reading a selection from Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues," but the students were willing to suffer the consequences.
This is Censorship, pure and simple! What are we supposed to call "it"? I would not have been surprised if something like this had occured in, let's say the 70's, but in this day and age? In My View of It, the idiot that tried to suspend these kids needs to start looking for another job!

Good point...what are you supposed to call it? Sometimes being afraid of something makes it even worse. For the longest time I would abbreviate words, replace words, use slang...but I've realized that does no good, and maybe even harm!

Good post.

I agree Bryan. Call it for what it is, that way no one can misunderstand what you are saying!

I can not for the life of me understand it. Kids are taught how to put a condom on a banana, but they are discouraged from saying the word vagina?

Hey Rose, maybe if they take it off the bananna and put it on a Penis, there would be less teen pregnancies?!
