Webb: “We do have an amendment on Iran”

Call your Senators today and tomorrow and ask them to support the Webb amendment. This, simply stated, requires the president to get Congressional authorization before attacking Iran, in keeping with the United States Constitution.

The Capitol switchboard is 202-224-3121.
To see if your Senator is supporting the amendment and report the result at: Provision against war with Iran

Jeff Herz - My View of the World said...
unfortunately one of my senators the honorable lying Joe Lieberman has already decided to bomb the shit out of Iran and my other Senator is too busy running for president (and being way behind in the polls) than to pay attention or listen to his constituents in CT.

House Votes 411-8 to Pass Ethics Overhaul

House Ethics Committee - Now there's an oxymoron!

The bill is the most far-reaching attempt at ethics reform since Watergate, although it is not as aggressive as some legislators wanted in restricting the use of earmarks and in requiring the disclosure of donation bundling

Gonzales denies pressuring Ashcroft on spying

Once again Gonzales hinders the investigation into any wrongdoing in his handling of affairs as Attorney General saying he couldn’t say in an unclassified setting, but offered to go into more detail in private meetings with senators.
He continues to be intentionally misleading in his answers whether it is about the firing of U.S. Attorneys or on the domestic surveillance program that operated without warrants.

House Votes to Pull Troops

The president acknowledged that public opinion might be against him — he said that “sometimes the decisions you make and the consequences don’t enable you to be loved” — but suggested that Congress was overstepping its constitutional role by trying to force a change of policy on him.
WTF!! Now Bush is talking as if he actually 'knows' what the Constitution is and what it says! This 'un-president' has made a mockery for so long that it is in shreds!

Wall St. braces for ‘headline risk’

By Jessica Holzer
How much can an ambitious Congress and a bunch of journalists shake Wall Street?
On Jan. 25, stock prices of several credit card companies took a beating.

The reports that hit the financial wires surely made the credit card executives wince. “Senate targets credit card practices,” one teaser on Yahoo! Finance read. “Critics seek clampdown on credit firms,” Reuters wrote.
But more importantly, those headlines rattled the market.
The episode illustrates the phenomenon of “headline risk,” or the damage a negative news story causes to a share price in the absence of any fundamental change to the company’s prospects or the business environment.

Oh no! Not the Credit Cards! Wonder why negative news stories don't seem to be having any impact on Bush and others on the Hill?

Senate Passes Vast Ethics Overhaul

By DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK
Published: January 19, 2007
WASHINGTON, Jan. 18

The Senate on Thursday overwhelmingly passed sweeping changes to ethics and lobbying rules, overcoming bipartisan reluctance to ban many of the favors that lobbyists do for lawmakers and to illuminate the shadowy legislative practice of earmarking money for special projects.
Should have titled this one - How To Piss Off A Republican! Kind of an oxymoron to use "Senate" and "Ethics" in the same sentence.

No Benefits for Illiegal Immigrants?

It is already impossible to live on Social Security alone. If they give benefits to "illegal" aliens who have never contributed, where does that leave us that have paid into Social Security all our working lives? The Senate voted this week to allow "illegal" aliens access to Social Security benefits.

This Petition appears to be semi-true but ineffedtive!
