Taliban, S. Korea reach agreement on captives

GHAZNI, Afghanistan -
The Taliban agreed Tuesday to free 19 South Korean church volunteers held hostage since July after the government in Seoul agreed to end all missionary work and keep a promise to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan by the end of the year.
In eastern Afghanistan, a suicide bomber attacked NATO troops helping build a bridge, killing three soldiers.
The Taliban originally seized 23 South Koreans, but have since killed two of the hostages and released two others. They had initially demanded the withdrawal of South Korean troops from the country and the release of prisoners in exchange for freeing the hostages

Monday's killing of a second Korean hostage held by Taliban militants in Afghanistan has sparked international debate about how to negotiate with hostage takers. In exchange for the freedom of the 21 surviving Korean Christian aid workers, their captors have demanded the release by Wednesday afternoon (Korean time) of several Taliban prisoners held in an Afghan jail. As South Korean and Afghan officials work together to broker a deal with the militants, the international community, especially Germany, is debating whether caving to their demand might encourage future abductions.

A purported Taliban spokesman shrugged off the demands and instead set a new deadline for the hostages’ lives, saying the hardline militants could kill one or all of the 22 captives if the government didn’t release 23 militant prisoners by 3:30 a.m. ET Monday. KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - A purported Taliban spokesman claimed the hardline militia killed a second South Korean hostage Monday because the Afghan government failed to release imprisoned insurgents. Afghan officials said they hadn’t recovered a body and couldn’t confirm the claim.

Not one muslim will condem this act because they would do it themselvs and that goes for all muslims

God didnt protect those doing good.

God hasnt turned the Taliban into pillars of salt.

God didnt stop 9/11.

Good people put themselves in danger because of it, and others kill because of it.

Stop religion, and you'll end all war.

It would take a miracle to free them- and we all know thats just not coming.

Taliban kill one Korean hostage

Jul. 25 - The Taliban set new deadline for its South Korean hostages after reporting the group had shot dead one of the 23 captives.
A Taliban spokesman said the rest of the 23 South Korean hostages will be killed if the Afghan government fails to release any Taliban prisoners by a new deadline of 2030 GMT.
