Taliban, S. Korea reach agreement on captives

GHAZNI, Afghanistan -
The Taliban agreed Tuesday to free 19 South Korean church volunteers held hostage since July after the government in Seoul agreed to end all missionary work and keep a promise to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan by the end of the year.
In eastern Afghanistan, a suicide bomber attacked NATO troops helping build a bridge, killing three soldiers.
The Taliban originally seized 23 South Koreans, but have since killed two of the hostages and released two others. They had initially demanded the withdrawal of South Korean troops from the country and the release of prisoners in exchange for freeing the hostages

Afghanistan tries to shame Taliban kidnappers

A purported Taliban spokesman shrugged off the demands and instead set a new deadline for the hostages’ lives, saying the hardline militants could kill one or all of the 22 captives if the government didn’t release 23 militant prisoners by 3:30 a.m. ET Monday. Several other deadlines have passed without killings.

Taliban kill one Korean hostage

Jul. 25 - The Taliban set new deadline for its South Korean hostages after reporting the group had shot dead one of the 23 captives.
A Taliban spokesman said the rest of the 23 South Korean hostages will be killed if the Afghan government fails to release any Taliban prisoners by a new deadline of 2030 GMT.

- A prominent official in the Afghan Taleban movement announced yesterday the death of Osama bin Laden, the chief of al-Qa'da organization, stating that binLaden suffered serious complications in the lungs and died a natural and quiet death. The official, who asked to remain anonymous, stated to The Observer of Pakistan that he had himself attended the funeral of bin Laden and saw his face prior to burial in Tora Bora 10 days ago. He mentioned that 30 of al-Qa'da fighters attended the burial as well as members of his family and some friends from the Taleban. In the farewell ceremony to his final rest guns were fired in the air. The official stated that it is difficult to pinpoint the burial location of bin Laden because according to the Wahhabi tradition no mark is left by the grave. He stressed that it is unlikely that the American forces would ever uncover any traces of bin Laden. "I believe that bin Laden was, and remains, a CIA/US government/Wall Street asset. This would explain why he has never been caught. There are still wars to fight. He can't be caught for a variety of reasons, including his family's enormous and diverse financial connections to the same elites that control the United States financial system, and his close interrelationship with a Saudi ruling class that could pull the plug on the US economy even before Peak Oil does. Osama bin Laden also knows way too much, and without him, the Bush administration would have had no excuse for any of what it has done over the last four years. From a strategic point of view, Osama is Dick Cheney's best friend."

Don't shoot the messenger - wouldn't this just be the shits? This would explain why with ALL of our resources, we can not find this guy!! (Yikes! hope my computer doesn't blow up after this little ditty!)
