The president acknowledged that he had something to prove on this trip.
"I do, but it's not so much to prove for my sake. It's really to prove for peace," he said. "And I believe the time is right to push for a Palestinian state. The time is right because there's an Israeli leader who understands that and a Palestinian leader who understands that."

"I'm sure people view me as a war monger and I view myself as peacemaker," the president said. "They view me as so pro-Israeli I can't be open-minded about Palestinian peace, and yet I'm the only president ever to have articulated a two-state solution. And you just have to fight through stereotypes by actions."

Why We Don't Impeach Bush and Cheney

Based on the figures below, I cannot understand why Bush and/or Cheney have not been Impeached.
Can it be that we are so blinded by our need for revenge stemming from 9/11 that we are willing to accept our complicity in rushing into War?
Or
Is it that Democrats think it's bad politics. Bush is dying politically and taking the GOP down with him, and impeachment is risky, Congress tends to follow the cost-benefit analysis.What do you think?

November 13, 2007 - Impeachment

A total of 64% of American voters say that President George W. Bush has abused his powers as president.
Of the 64%,
14% (9% of all voters) say the abuses are not serious enough to warrant impeachment,
33% (21% of all voters) say the abuses rise to the level of impeachable offenses, but he should not be impeached,
53% (34% of all voters) say the abuses rise to the level of impeachable offenses and Mr. Bush should be impeached and removed from office.

A total of 70% of American voters say that Vice President Dick Cheney has abused his powers as vice president.
Of the 70%,
26% (18% of all voters) say the abuses are not serious enough to warrant impeachment,
13% (9% of all voters) say the abuses rise to the level of impeachable offenses, but he should not be impeached,
61% (43% of all voters) say the abuses rise to the level of impeachable offenses and Mr. Cheney should be impeached and removed from office.

Why?
Because our leaders in Congress have no balls and are only concerned about their reelection. Its time for them all to go, we need an entire new Government, Congress and everything.

What I'm seeing with this impeachment gig is that it is simply a grandstanding farce.
Allegedly, we have a Union of Lawyers who have also allegedly hopped on the train for impeachment yet nothing has been done and I'll lay money on it that nothing will be done with this Impeachment thing.
This thing is so huge, that many many others would have to be impeached along with these knuckleheads, Nany Pelosi included.
Everyone of them should be tried and hung for treason but will that happen?
Not in this lifetime.
This has been one huge Monopoly game and if you've learned the technique on how to win at Monopoly, you'd see the blatant techniques being used in it.
I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but Congressman Conyers saw what was happening in the beginning of the second election term and had been setting Impeachment up at that time then Pelosi, stopped him dead in his tracks.
Pelosi sold out when she first became Speaker of the House. Crap, even Senator Diane Feinstein has had a hand in this.
They want to see aberration continue because they're becoming wealthy because of this major cluster phuck AND they have us by our short hair.
Because of our apathetic attitudes, we've allowed them to have us by our short hairs.

I think you are both correct, in part.
Impeachment will NOT happen, as you say Saboma - not in the lifetime and I will be quite surprised to see if we even have an Election in '08.
I am of the opinion that there will be some catastorphic event similar to 9/11 that will enable Bush to invoke the COG and keep him in office until hell freezes over!

Why Not Impeach?

In the history of this Nation only three Presidents have faced impeachment:

Andrew Johnson- In February 1868 the House voted to impeach Johnson 126-47 even before it adopted any articles of impeachment.
A week later the House passed 11 articles, 8 of them relating to the Stanton dismissal.
Another, in part, maintained that Johnson had criticized Congress in a "loud voice."

Richard Milhouse Nixon - In 1974 the House voted 410-4 to authorize the Judiciary Committee to conduct an impeachment inquiry into the Watergate scandal.
In July 1974, the committee opened its debate, which was watched by a huge television audience.
The committee approved three articles of impeachment charging Nixon with helping to cover up Watergate, abusing his powers and failing to honor committee subpoenas. While the committee was debating, the Supreme Court ruled that Nixon had to release tapes he had withheld.

Bill Clinton - for allegations of purgery, one for obstruction of justice, the other involving abuse of power.
On February 12 the Senate voted 55-45 and 50-50 on the two articles of impeachment preventing Clinton from being removed from office.

Should a man who lied America into an unprovoked, criminal attack that has thus far produced a million deaths, be more favorably treated than a man who lied about his sexual behavior in the White House?
Impeaching Bill Clinton was relatively easy because it didn't really effect anyone but him, no power was threatened in other words.
But in the case of Bush, he is all about power.
We no longer have a Constitution, with its “separation of powers,” because Bush has turned the Presidency into a “unitary presidency” which, in any other society, would correctly be labeled a “dictatorship.” Bush refers to himself as “the decider” and has, on more than one occasion, expressed his preference for a dictatorship, “just so long as I’m the dictator.”
With hardly any objection, Mr. Bush has pretty much ended any pretense of a system of constitutionally-defined government.
So I ask you to explain to me why this man is still in Office?
Why is Cheney still in Office?
Why is there no public outcry to get these fear-mongering, war-mongering abusers of power out of Office?
