after July, embracing the recommendation of his top commander in the
war, Gen. David Petraeus.


That stance guarantees a heavy American military presence in Iraq for the rest of Bush's presidency as the war grinds through its sixth year.
If the "Surge" is working then what are we still doing there?
It appears that things are much the same al-Qaida is still in the picture while Iraq is making little progress toward Democracy, yet our troops continue to fight and die.
What's wrong with this picture?

Oliver Stone Votes for 'Bush' Project

I cannot believe that Oliver Stone is going to make a movie about Bush. One needs only to do a Web search for "Stone" and "Bush" to find plenty of the director's critical comments about the Bush administration's invasion of Iraq. Despite that, the director said he's not looking to make an anti-Bush polemic. His goal is to use seminal events in Bush's life to explain how he came to power.

WTF! He came to power because this is exactly what dear old daddy's money bought him. I would think that it might be better to make this movie in a hundred years when everyone who had to survive his Administration was gone. Stone declined to give his personal opinion of the president. Perhaps Stone is tired of his career as a Director and is trying to sabatoge himself, perhaps he's on drugs. Who knows.

It includes his belief that God personally chose him to be president of the United States, and his coming into his own with the stunning, preemptive attack on Iraq. It will contain surprises for Bush supporters and his detractors."

Is it just me or have many of our Politician's lately saying that they have been "called by God" to be Politicians? Can anyone tell me when God became interested in Politics?

Are you aware that funding has been cut for US National Parks. With that, many have been laid off from their positions. It would behoove Bush to promote the idea of romancing our young sprouts to volunteer positions their services.

Bill Clinton Rewrites History on Iraq?

(CNN) -- Former President Clinton has revealed that he continues to support President Bush's decision to go to war in Iraq but chastised the administration over the abuses at Abu Ghraib prison.
However, Bush 'couldn't responsibly ignore' chance Iraq had WMDs says Clinton. "I still resent that I was not asked or given the opportunity to support those soldiers."

Clinton has long been critical of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq and called it a "big mistake" as far back as November of 2005.

The former president did support giving President Bush the authority needed to go to war.

"I supported the President when he asked the Congress for authority to stand up against weapons of mass destruction in Iraq," said Clinton in 2003 while delivering commencement remarks at Tougaloo College in Jackson, Miss.

Seems to me that many supported the War until we found out we were lied into it and as facts unfolded support became less and less.
In my opinion the Candidates are manipulating Clinton's statements in order to use them agaist Hilary...oh what a tangled web we weave.

Once again the Media is overly dramatic with the innuendos and making a mountain out of a molehill.

Never mind that Clinton also said that he was under the impression that there were weapons of mass destruction too, when he was asked about it? Why is it okay for CLinton to lie, but not Bush? (I don't think either one should be allowed to lie personally, but apparently you liberals have a different set of morals for those you support.)

On this day, prescribed by law and marked by ceremony, we celebrate the durable wisdom of our Constitution, and recall the deep commitments that unite our country. I am grateful for the honor of this hour, mindful of the consequential times in which we live, and determined to fulfill the oath that I have sworn and you have witnessed.
At this second gathering, our duties are defined not by the words I use, but by the history we have seen together. For a half century, America defended our own freedom by standing watch on distant borders. After the shipwreck of communism came years of relative quiet, years of repose, years of sabbatical - and then there came a day of fire.

We will encourage reform in other governments by making clear that success in our relations will require the decent treatment of their own people. America's belief in human dignity will guide our policies, yet rights must be more than the grudging concessions of dictators; they are secured by free dissent and the participation of the governed. In the long run, there is no justice without freedom, and there can be no human rights without human liberty.
Some, I know, have questioned the global appeal of liberty - though this time in history, four decades defined by the swiftest advance of freedom ever seen, is an odd time for doubt. Americans, of all people, should never be surprised by the power of our ideals. Eventually, the call of freedom comes to every mind and every soul. Lots of pretty talk here but did he mean any of it? I think not based on his record and his lack of respect for the Constitution. He has become the tyrant he claimed to want to rid the world of.

Bob Barker has retired from "The Price is Right", and apparently Rosie O'Donnel is a possible new Host for that show - can you picture your Grandparents listening to Rosie spew her poison?

A Mob in Texas beat a man to death because the car he was riding in hit a little girl at the "Juneteenth Festival" Notice I said he was a passenger? The little girl was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the car got away but is cooperating with police. I think this went way to far!

The wife of the man who prosecuted Paris Hilton has an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to appear in court nine years ago on charges of driving without insurance, with a suspended license and in an unregistered car. The shit is hitting the fan for her Prosecutor husband because they are both "so embarassed". I see they are also guilty of being chronically late in paying fines for at least five parking tickets in the last three years, a newspaper reported.
One violation for parking in a red zone in December 2006 was not paid until the newspaper inquired about the tickets last month, by which time the $70 infraction had become a $174 fine with penalties.

Bush has once again vetoed Stem Cell Research if it uses embryonic stem cells but to blunt criticism, the White House said Bush is issuing an executive order directing the Health and Human Services Department to promote research into cells that – like human embryonic stem cells – also hold the potential of regenerating into different types of cells that might be used to battle disease.

And it looks like God is getting pissed off in the Middle East too:
A 5.6-magnitude earthquake shook Iran's central desert on Monday, residents and state television said.
The quake was felt in the capital, Tehran and in several other cities for about seven seconds starting at nearly 6 p.m. (14:29 GMT), residents said.

Pelosi's diplomacy: She speaks only for herself

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has taken it upon herself to launch diplomatic missions to several Middle Eastern nations and act not only as an official spokesman and representative of the United States, but as a messenger between hostile countries. This is more than foolish, it is dangerous.

Pelosi has made it clear that her reason for pretending to be secretary of state is because she disagrees with the Bush administration's handling of Middle Eastern affairs. So by its very nature her trip sends conflicting messages to our allies and enemies, weakens our position overseas and undermines the administration, which, by the way, is constitutionally entrusted with conducting foreign affairs. But since when has Pelosi been concerned about obeying the Constitution?

This is an excerpt out of my Hometown Newspaper the Manchester Union Leader and I find it hysterical that anyone would be concerned about Pelosi obeying the Constitution when our own President doesn't "obey" it. Sheesh!

Now It's Personal: Al Qaeda Calls Bush an Alcoholic Liar

The latest taped statement from al Qaeda is an unusually personal attack on President Bush, in which al Qaeda's No. 2 in command, Ayman al Zawahiri, denounces Bush as "an alcoholic, liar and gambler with an addictive personality."

Interesting isn't it that we haven't heard one word from alQaeda, but just in time for the Debates re: sending more troops, out comes this. How very convenient! The Bush Administration and the powers that be must think we are really stupid - I'm not buying it-are you?
